When a beautiful mermaid decides to rebel against her own father, who is the king of the ocean, all hell breaks loose in her ocean home. The entire ocean community is eager to know what happens at the end. Well, even the community above the ocean is eager to watch “The Little Mermaid” give an outstanding performance, trying to convince the handsome prince and fight the evil witch! This is the story of fulfilling one’s wishes, rebelling against traditions, and exploring new avenues of life.

No wonder, this Disney tryout sold 95,000 seats in Denver and won the hearts of a huge audience in New York. Based on the animated movie of the same name, produced in 1989, this Disney musical is all set to splash the stage of Broadway with sheer excitement.

The songs of “The Little Mermaid” are going to make you sway on your seats. “Kiss the Girl”, “Part of Your World”, and “Under the Sea” are among the best compositions. The last one has grabbed an Academy Award for the title of The Best Original Song! Its lyrics have been penned down by Alan Menke, who has 8 Academy Awards to his credit, and Howard Ashman, who is known by every soul, fond of music! You will also come across some touching lines given by Menken and Glenn Slater.

Francesca Zambello has directed this Disney musical, which is her debut production for Broadway. The star cast has Sierra Bogges and Sean Palmer playing the lead roles of Ariel and Prince Eric, respectively. Besides this, King Triton is played by Norm Lewis; Jetsam is in real life Derrrick Baskin; Urusla is actually Sherie Rene Scott. The roles of Chef Louis and Grimsby have been played by John Treacy Egan and Jonathan Freeman, respectively.

“The Little Mermaid” team already held the world premiere at the Denver Center, in the month of July, 2007. The show was opened on Broadway in August this year and continued till 9th September. If you missed watching the gorgeous Ariel with her gritty ambitions of exploring the world outside the ocean, you have another chance. The show will begin its previews in November this year, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, and open officially on the 6th of the following month.

So, if you have still not booked tickets for the show, it’s time you pick up your phone. Dial a number and the ticketing services will arrange for the tickets of your choice show. You can even order the tickets online. However, there is a risk of returning empty-handed or not getting enough tickets, if you attempt to try your luck at the box office. There is a maddening rush already at the windows!

This Disney musical promises to provide complete family entertainment. It’s not just a children’s entertainment stuff. Both the young and old will have a good time watching the musical and humming along the tunes of the splendid songs. “The Little Mermaid” is a must-see!

The mystical story “Lord of the rings” has been adapted from the awesome book of the same name authored by J.R. Tolkein. The movie is basically a sequel of the book The Hobbit that had been authored previously by Tolkein for his children. It was the immense popularity that led Tolkein to pen another book named as the “The Lord of the Rings”.
Utmost care has been exercised as not to contort Tolkien’s original epic writing style for the to fulfillment of the technicalities of the conventional standards of theatrical musical as opposed to the average norms and traditions of the theatre that have been stretched to the end limits for accommodation to Tolkien’s writing. The story possesses the ability to both amaze and provide comical moments that not only thrill but also and excite the adult and the young audience alike owing to the magical and the mystical experience. Its successful adaptation of the theatre show leads to the transportation of the spectators into a fantasy world that not only has powerful imagery but excellent special effects that makes the viewers cry and laugh along the characters.
The task of adapting such a rich story on stage was a challenge in itself that was successfully handled by the director. Portraying several events such as the depiction of good versus bad, the fight sequences, different species to name a few was a challenge in itself and it was theoretically and artistically dealt with to utmost perfection negating Warchus’s earlier notion that the comprehensive storyline was impossible to be summarized on stage. However after repeated readings his mind cleared up and he could imagine the creation of landscapes and sets much as in the original movie.
According to the story Isuldur tries to use the power of the Ring of invisibility in order to escape but losses it in a river and is murdered. Centuries later it is found by two friends by coincidence. Sméagol murders his friend D’agol for the possession of the ring. He uses its power of invisibility for all kinds of malpractices including theft and listening in on secrets. He was loathed by people and consequently named “Gollum” owing to his strange habit of making gurgling noises in his throat. Sick of the abuses being flung at him all the time he leaves for the caverns that are beneath the Misty Mountains believing that he can find the secret of how the world came into being. This is depicted in the setting of 2470, or more appropriately the Third Age of the Middle-Earth.
The story captivates with advancement. It has been dealt in an equally impressive way as a show. In order for personal identification of one self seeing the movie/ show is a must. The magic begins when the curtains are drawn apart… But it does not end even after the show has finished. The story captivates you long after you have left the theatre. The magnificence of the theatre and its sets transport you in to another world.

iPod in hand as I flick through the tracks I stop, the music begins to fill me head as I remember that same feeling as I did maybe 20 years ago.

London in the eighties there is nothing quite like going to London to see a musical, the excitement of that childhood trip I remember well. Early mornings here in Liverpool and the anticipation of the Pullman train journey down to Euston station in London when my father had to go on business.

My mother, sister and I were promised a trip shopping in London coupled with a musical. A sense of anticipation grew as the day went on, arriving at the Cumberland hotel while mother adorned in here fur coat discussed what seats were available for which shows. I guess it was about 1982 and a host of Andrew Lloyd Webber productions were being staged in the West End, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard, The Phantom of the Opera coupled with the rock musical Time or Mutiny on the Bounty. How times have changed.

Then little girls wore long dresses and ladies in cocktail dresses whilst the men wore black tie and evening jackets a really sense of occasion and like all young children my sister and I simply loved getting dresses up.

Finally the moment arrived seated in the centre circle waiting for the curtain to raise my sister on my left with mum and dad seated to my right , opera glasses in hand star struck waiting for the orchestra to play that first note. It mattered not which musical or even which theatre just those stage lights and that compelling tune that fills the theatre. On this occasion it happened to Sunset Boulevard and the curtained began to raise.

I knew from the very first time I watched my first musical that I would be a life long theatre goer and would dream of one day performing upon that stage. The music filled my head and my heart and the show began. There is no experience quiet like it and the glamour of the eighties theatre nights were there for everyone too see.

Before you knew where we were it was the interval, as the ladies and gentlemen flowed into the bar there was a silver tray with the name Warwick upon it our order already for us at the bar in the theatre, refreshments for all . Cigarettes and cigars lit the room filled with chatter of the performances while the air filled with the smell of cigars.

Five minutes ten minutes who knows soon we were seated back in our velvet seats again waiting for the final encounter. I will never forget the performance of an aged Hollywood star trying to deal with the end of the silent era a wonderful story moving and yet enlightening. The music seemed timeless and the experience will forever stick in my memory, ever show as memorable as the last ever performance unique.

Finally the audience raised the roof with applause standing clapping endlessness as the performers re-entered the stage to take there curtain call louder and louder the theatre rang with applause. Peering over the centre circle to take one last look at the stage I can remember that feeling a slight tear in my eye produced by happiness and a slight yawn as it was way past my bedtime. A family experience that once taken you would never forget.

As I lay in my bed that night I can remember seeing the lights and hearing the music melodically soothing me to sleep.

One of the overwhelming aspects of finding and/or designing he right home theatre system is that there are now so many options to choose from. With the ever steady boom in home theatre demand, more manufacturers are producing a wide array of options. Technology continues to change and improve in leaps and bounds, which often means what was brand new and completely unaffordable only twelve months ago may now be right in your perfect price range.

One reason many individuals like having a hand in designing their own home theatre system is that you can basically mix and match to make it into whatever you want. You are not restrained by package deals. It is possible to put together a full-scale, state of the art system with projector, receiver and the works, or if that seems a little over the top, you can buy a quality TV (some almost to projection screen sizes nowadays) and accessorize it with DVD player and surround sound speakers.

The variance can go from a couple thousand, to $100,000 for the ludicrously rich and extravagant. This illustrates the importance of choosing a system that suits your needs and doesn’t break the bank.

In the end, it’s all about getting the best possible home theater system for the money you have available. Don’t be afraid if it’s not state of the art-your neighbor will still be paying that off six years down the road when you’ve already upgraded for cheaper. Because of the rapid move of technology, prices bottom out pretty quickly as companies rush at sometimes break neck speeds to try and out do each other.

Think about your own watching and listening needs. Based on what you prefer, a little research should reveal to you the best brands, the best speakers, the best options for what you want to enjoy.

Building your home theater can be a great experience. If you are a family man, you can enjoy movies with the family without having to go out to the hassles of a theatre. If you’re a bachelor, invite the guys over for the game. If you’re a college student, you are probably incredibly popular (just don’t put it on the credit cards). There are several different factors to consider when picking out the various parts that will go into your own personal home theatre system. Here is a check list of a few things to consider:

* Projector or TV? Are you in a semi-permanent residence, or moving soon? That may make a huge difference in how much you want to sink in.

* If you’re shooting for the projector, then what type suits your needs?
* Small room or larger one.
* What is the focus? Movies? Music? Football games? All of the above?
* Location, location, location!
* Can I do it myself, or should I get help?

Keep this checklist in mind and do your research, and you’ll be sure to find the home theatre system that matches your needs.

To Antonin Artuad, theatre was not a matter of life and death, it was hell of lot more important than that. He wanted theatre to return to what it once was in primitive societies – pure magic – an event where a catharsis of the audience would take place. This catharsis that he spoke so passionately about was not to be fleeting, it was not to be the type of catharsis that would move the audience for just the rest of the evening, only to be forgotten about with the cold realities of the morning, rather it was to be a catharsis that was to change civilisation, entirely and forever. Artaud was rallying against traditional French theatre – the stock process of proposing a problem at the beginning of a play and providing a solution to this problem by the end of the play. He envisioned a theatre characterised by freedom, mystery and surrealism and he observed the roots of this type theatre in the work of Mallarme, Maeterlinck and Alfred Jarry. He was overwhelmed by a performance of Balinese theatre which he witnessed at the Colonial Exposition in Paris in 1931, it cemented his belief that a dramatic presentation should be an act of initiation during which the spectator will be awed and even terrified, even heightening to such a degree that they may even lose their reason. During this induced frenzy the spectator will be able to take onboard a complete new set of truths, revelations into the true nature of society. Artaud sought theatre to disturb the mind and open the subconscious, driving people back to their primitive nature. His method of achieving this goal was to base theatre in the arenas of danger and cruelty. He thought that words should act as an incantation and actors should become something akin to shaman summoning life themes that are beyond human.

While there are many different things that go into building the perfect home theatre system, and many different ways of putting one together, all of them have one thing in common: amazing speakers that can the room in a rock song, or catch that creaking door in the horror movie you’re watching via surround sound. Whether you’re looking at a quality TV or an actual projection screen theatre, any and every model requires good speakers to carry the sound.

There are many different types of speaker systems that you can use in a home theatre. One of the most important things to know is that the higher the watt and ohm of the speaker, the greater the sound you get. The quality of volume and how much you can push the envelope is limited only by the patience of the neighbor most likely to call the cops.

There are so many types of speaker systems that literally hundreds of articles could be written on the subject. While well recognized brand names can put out great speakers and speaker systems, pay attention to the less well known brands, as well, because some of those speakers may be just as good, and several hundred dollars cheaper.

When choosing out speaker systems, don’t forget the surround sound! One of the best effects of a home theatre speaker system is when the surround sound is perfectly attended to. This brings a dimension to movies most people have never experienced . . . since even many people with a home theatre system don’t have the surround sound set up appropriately.

When you are deciding on what theatre speakers to buy, keep the arrangement details in mind. The basic common home theater set up is a screen at one end of the room, one central speaker, one speaker flanking each side of the screen, two speakers providing surround sound on the left and right, and sometimes a speaker adding surround sound from the rear (absolutely great for either war or horror movies).

If you decide to arrange your room this way, chances are good that you will have excellent sound added to your home theatre system, and this makes speaker placement relatively simple if you are in a large room without much confusion. In the ideal situation, the front speakers are the same height from the ground, usually either slightly above or slightly below the display, and the surround speakers should be at least one and a half feet above the heads of the viewers. A lot of people mess this detail up.

The decision on home theatre speakers is an important one, especially if you want to be oriented towards movie watching. A DVD of a movie such as Braveheart is amazing when you can hear each individual bow string twang, and the sound of arrows displacing air. When the surround sound is on at full blast all over the room, that’s an experience you don’t soon forget, and neither will your all your friends gushing about your system to everyone they know!

New York City theatre tickets are not hard to obtain if you know the right place to look for them. Many people are so keen on watching a Broadway show that they are willing to pay far more than the face value of the tickets.

An Evening At Broadway

New York City theatre tickets are usually a tough job to obtain as most shows are sold out months before the opening. There are shows that sell more than $400,000 worth in tickets in just one day! The typical evening entertainment for theatre lovers is watching a Broadway show or perhaps even an off-Broadway show.

New York City theatre tickets of shows that children may enjoy such as “The Lion King”, “The Little Mermaid”, and “The Beauty And The Beast” would ensure that a family vacation to New York is a most enjoyable one.

Most shows have an excellent combination of a great creative team and a superb cast that together present a most amazing performance which thrills audiences of all ages. Before you buy New York City theatre tickets, you should know that some shows may be inappropriate for children below 16 years of age. Another point to be noted is that most theatres do not admit children below 4 years of age.

Some shows can leave you with contemplation regarding the play for days at end, while others offer light hearted relief to the audiences. There is so much variety on offer- musicals, drama, classical, Shakespearean drama, mature comedy and Children’s shows. The difficult bit is securing the New York City theatre tickets for the shows of your choice; especially on days that you wish to watch them.

It is a fact that weekday tickets are not as costly as the weekend ones, especially Saturday night shows which are by far the most desired slot. The easiest and least expensive tickets available may be for shows that are scheduled to be performed on Monday nights or matinees. If you want cheap and inexpensive tickets then you can try getting the rush or lottery tickets, or opt for standing room only tickets. You can also try the TKTS booths to get tickets at a discount.

The most preferred method of securing New York City theatre tickets is via an authorized ticket broker. The ticket brokers go to great trouble in securing a huge collection of tickets for almost all events and shows. They can get you premium or regular tickets to the shows. You can book your tickets in advance or even get last minute tickets from them. They can also secure you front row tickets to sold-out shows if you do not mind paying extra.

Make sure that you use the services of a registered authorized ticket broker. They can get guaranteed tickets for you with least trouble. You can call them or make online purchases on their secure website. This purchase of tickets is at your convenience and that too 24/7. You do not have to stand in queues or wonder if the tickets that you have purchased are valid or not. Adding to the convenience is the early delivery of your tickets at the doorstep via Federal Express. The next time you wish to purchase New York City theatre tickets, just contact your authorized ticket broker.

Finding the perfect picture for your home theatre can be difficult, and it also depends what your definition of a home theatre is. For most individuals, a home theatre is having a beautifully large and modern TV with surround sound speakers in a room other than the living room: a room specifically designed for enjoying the big game or for watching the newest released DVDs.

A TV by itself is not enough, though, since an important factor is viewing distance. In that respect, it’s like going to a movie theatre. Most people do not like the very front because not only do they have to crane their necks, but there is so much to take in all at once and it can be overwhelming.

Then there are those individuals who think home theatre system, and that means having an actual screen and projector. Technology is amazing, and now many individuals can afford to own an actual home movie theatre complete with projector and screen. If this sounds exciting, by all means, look for the right projector and home theatre screen for your perfect vision of a home theatre, but make sure to do your research first.

If you are looking to purchase a home theater screen, you should know that there are specifically three types of home theater screens available. The first one is the fixed home theater screen. These are the simplest, and most common, screens. They are usually designed to be permanently mounted on the wall. The disadvantage of this screen is that once it’s set, it’s set. There are advantages, however.

One advantage is you can hide ugly wires and cables quite easily with this type of installation. The screen itself is made of a fabric that will be stretched onto a frame and then fastened into place. A wrinkle free white surface should be the end result. If it is not wrinkle free after a professional puts it in, demand the job is done right.

The second type of screen is the tripod home theatre screen. These are the types of screens that are portable because they are attached to a tripod. These are best for meetings, like a business demonstration requiring slides, or an outdoor training. It is okay for these types of purposes, but they are not designed for actual movie watching.

The third type of screen is a wall mounted retractable screen. Remember the screens teachers would use in elementary school when they had an overhead projector? That’s exactly what this is. These types of screens are usually installed on the wall, but they can be pulled down. These are more expensive than the fixed home theatre screen, and are best for homes that are smaller and therefore have less area to work with, otherwise they don’t give any advantage over the basic model.

If you want a true to life movie viewing experience at home, these are your three options. Do the research, figure out your budget, and then enjoy the unique experience of having your very own projector to see the DVDs as if you were still in a small town theatre.
